The Money Smart Podcast Network (MSPN) utilizes audio as a new, innovative tool for financial education training. This is a particularly relevant tool, as a significant percentage of the population listens to podcasts. MSPN not only provides general information, but also provides consumers with just-in-time information that is useful for specific educational needs.

The MSPN is best utilized as a supplement to other methods of financial education training. For example, the audio Money Smart files can:

The Money Smart Podcast Network is designed to benefit people of all ages. In particular, many young people are very familiar with online or portable audio files. Therefore, it is expected to be a significant tool to reach young people who have limited or no banking experience.

All materials are in audio format, although learners will have the option of accessing printed resources from the online "Information Booth."

The information is presented using a "radio talk show" format. Many people are already accustomed to listening or viewing talk shows on the television or radio. Additionally, a talk show lends itself to a variety of different ways to present information, such as guest interviews, call-ins, testimonials, etc. Using the talk show host as the anchor for the entire MSPN series ensures a coherent and unified presentation of the content.

As with other versions of Money Smart, the audio version has no specific prerequisites. Using verbal descriptions and topic-based scenarios, the audio version utilizes detailed dialogue to enhance the user’s experience. The individual files are short and designed for easy listening and retention.

Organizationally, the MSPN consists of four general categories of information. Several topics fall under each category. Within each topic are individual files (segments).
